I never thought that at 28 years old I would still suffer from acne, but I do. When I have a breakout, I want it gone. Not tomorrow or the next day. I want it gone immediately. There are a million different products claiming to instantly make your acne disappear but that’s just not true. As much as we all wish, there is no magic cure for acne.

The truth is that while nothing will instantly get rid of your acne, there are some quick fixes. After doing a lot of research, trial and error and getting my degree as a Master Esthetician, I have finally found the best acne treatments that work and work fast. Here is a rundown of the best treatment for acne when you need a quick fix.

Salicylic Acid is the most commonly used acne fighting ingredient due to its ability to quickly and deeply penetrate the follicle. Salicylic Acid works deep within the skin to dissolve dead skin cells and impurities which can clog the pores. After the skin is free of dead skin cells, it helps to promote new skin cell growth and healing.

Benzoyl Peroxide is also commonly used in most acne products. Benzoyl Peroxide is unique because it introduces oxygen into the pores. The bacteria that causes acne cannot survive in the presence of oxygen which helps prevent breakouts. Benzoyl
Peroxide also helps to dissolve dead skin and impurities that clog pores and cause breakouts.

Glycolic Acid helps to dissolve dead skin cells and impurities to keep the pores clean and clear. It also helps to treat acne scarring and red or brown spots that have been caused by past breakouts by accelerating the healing process and promoting the growth of new skin cells.

I think it’s safe to assume that we all want our acne to go away and never come back. That’s definitely a possibility but you first have to figure out what works for your skin. I would suggest implementing an acne product that contains one of these ingredients into your daily skin care regime. They are all proven and clinically tested ingredients that have been used by dermatologists for decades. Some ingredients may work better for you then others or even a combination of the three ingredients together. The point is the figure out what your skin responds to.

Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide and Glycolic Acid can be found in most acne products. Just make sure the product contains at least 2%. If you only suffer from breakouts in a particular area, I would recommend using a 2% product all over your face and then finding a spot treatment with a higher concentration for the areas that are most affected by breakouts.
